As we commemorate Veterans Day this month, we are reminded of the countless veterans who selflessly served our country and continue to exemplify excellence in their civilian careers. Today, we express our deepest gratitude for their service and sacrifice, and we are honored to share with you the story of Kelby D., A&P Mechanic V - Lead/Engine run.
Kelby served in the U.S. Navy for five years as an aviation structural mechanic. Stationed at NAS Whidbey Island and assigned to VQ-1, Kelby worked tirelessly on P-3C Orion and EP-3E Aeries II aircraft in support of ISR operations. During this time, he was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island and assigned to VQ-1. While serving in the Navy, he was deployed three times to Turkey, Qatar, and Okinawa. As a Colorado native, Kelby was familiar with SNC so when it was time to transition into civilian work, joining our team was an easy decision.
"I really like the work that we do here," Kelby explains, "I’ve always enjoyed working on new projects, learning new skills and being a part of the unique niche that we have here."
His work continues to give him a great sense of pride to as he serves and supports the country and the warfighter in a different form of service.
Kelby's career with us started in 2013 as a Structures Technician, and in 2017, he transitioned to a new program, where he currently serves as the lead A&P mechanic. While the work can be challenging, Kelby has never shied away. In fact, he relished every opportunity to work on the PC-12 aircraft, striving to improve his skills and knowledge.
When he's not working or serving his country, Kelby loves spending time with his wife and their two daughters. Other than his busy life at home, Kelby loves to spend time with extended family, friends, camping, golfing, dive bars, live music, and watching football and basketball.
