SPARKS, Nev. (February 9, 2023) – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has once again successfully demonstrated the ability to leverage its SNC TRAX software as a real-world application for joint all-domain command and control (JADC2) operations during the U.S. Army’s recent Scarlet Dragon exercise held in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. SNC TRAX acted as the primary mechanism to effectively bridge the gap between legacy battle command systems by injecting artificial intelligence (AI) into the network, shortening the kill-chain timeline from hours to minutes.
“SNC TRAX software is an operationally proven solution capable of removing some of the key barriers that typically prevent our forces from realizing the overwhelming potential of networking our sensors, weapons and systems,” said Tim Owings, executive vice president of SNC’s Mission Solutions and Technologies business area. “This demonstration showcases the success of that capability and proves how critical SNC TRAX is to aid the warfighter in clear, rapid decision making in the ‘fog of war.’”
SNC TRAX software is heavily fielded throughout the Department of Defense. It digitally bridges disparate networks, sensors and systems to create a common operational picture. The software’s open architecture interface and platform-agnostic solutions approach allows SNC TRAX to act as a modular, certified, command and control (C2) software suite. It feeds all integrated data sources into one unified picture, creating a seamless JADC2 experience that improves situational awareness, decision making and mission success across domains.
“Commonality is essential to providing force-wide capability, and architectures that expect and support rapid integration of the next waveform, sensor, weapon and protocol will become key to maintaining an advantage. AI is that next layer of data integration,” said Tom Klonk, senior director of programs.
Operational since 2012, SNC TRAX is used by thousands of combatant command leaders, tactical operators, operational centers, aircrews and ground units worldwide. It is a critical piece of the overall next-generation mission system (NGMS) eco-system, offering solutions to a number of longstanding interoperability challenges faced among joint service C2 systems across domains. SNC TRAX provides an easy-to-use, modular design for integrating hardware, software applications and C2 systems, reducing sensor-to-shooter timelines across joint forces.
This technology is currently in use in support of multi-domain operations across multiple branches of the U.S. military. It offers a greater integration capability than other systems and provides secure interoperability between U.S. and allied defense forces. SNC TRAX creates a scalable foundation for meeting warfighter requirements by providing resilient and interoperable connectivity in degraded, contested and resource-limited environments. It reduces timelines for threat detection, correlation and engagement, enabling distributed mission command – ultimately becoming the source of JADC2.
