SNC continued its growth at the state-of-the-art AITC campus as part of the company’s significant investments and multi-year growth plan to increase both capacity and capability. The joint ribbon cutting and groundbreaking comes six months after the U.S. Air Force awarded SNC a $13-billion contract to modernize and deliver the next-generation Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) aircraft.

Strategically located at Dayton International Airport, the SNC AITC establishes a modern, large-scale aviation center in the Dayton region, known as the home of the Wright Brothers and the Birthplace of Aviation. With SNC’s second 100,000-square-foot facility operational since September 2024, and completion of the two new hangars expected in Oct 2025 and Feb 2026, the SNC campus will house at least four state-of-the-art facilities capable of supporting some of the largest aviation projects in the world1. The AITC campus will leverage new technologies including AI, ML, robotics and NDI tools to be increase efficiency, productivity and safety.

“Ohio is the heart of the aerospace industry and SNC’s announcement today adds to our position as the premier location for aerospace,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “We applaud SNC for recognizing that there is absolutely no better place than the Miami Valley for work in the aviation, aerospace, and defense sectors.”

“We are thrilled to continue expansion of our state-of-the-art Aviation Innovation and Technology Center in Dayton and the Miami Valley,” said Mark Williams, SNC senior vice president of strategy. “Our continued growth in the region allows SNC to harness the significant existing infrastructure and skilled talent pool that are necessary to deliver the transformative solutions our customers demand. Furthermore, these state-of-the-art facilities are dedicated to ensuring our military aviation community has the capability and resources to meet the growing demands for many years to come.”

"SNC’s continued commitment to Ohio reinforces the Dayton region’s standing as a leader in aviation, aerospace and national defense,” said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. “This expansion is another example of how Ohio has positioned itself to win the new investments and jobs that are essential to America’s economic and national security.”

“Sierra Nevada Corporation’s decision to locate and quickly expand in Dayton reflects the success of those operations and Ohio’s collaborative efforts to further strengthen and develop the aerospace and defense industries here,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “Ohio’s legacy of flight innovation dating back to the Wright brothers, commitment to advancing aviation technology, and exceptional workforce provide a strategic advantage for SNC to build the industry supply chain and bolster our national security.
