SPARKS, Nev., July 02, 2018 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has announced S. Sita Sonty has joined its Washington, DC office as Vice President, International Business.
Sonty brings key national security leadership experience to SNC from the U.S. Department of State, Raytheon International, and over fifteen years of service as a Foreign Service Officer. As a State Department official, Sonty led the International Security Advisory Board as Executive Secretary while overseeing Global Strategy for the Political Military Affairs Bureau. She directed Foreign Military and Direct Commercial Sales to South and Central Asia as Senior Advisor and served as the Senior Political Desk Officer for Indian Affairs and Attache for Cultural and Educational Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Croatia.
This strategic experience in foreign and domestic environments and her vast relationship skills with leaders and influencers across disciplines are perfectly suited to lead and support SNC’s broad portfolio as a leader in Aerospace, National Security, and Defense.

Sonty earned a Master’s Degree in Conflict Management, African Studies, and Development Finance from the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Economics from Amherst College. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Densmore Berry Collins Award and two individual Superior Honor Awards and the Linguist Award from the State Department.
Sita serves as Executive Board Member for the Washington Leadership Program, and served as Co-Chair of the Defense and Security Working Group for the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).
