Sierra Nevada Corporation completed the acquisition of 3S Certification and 3S Engineering of Wichita, Kansas (collectively, 3S). 3S holds a Federal Aviation Administration authorized Organization Designation Authorization (ODA), and specializes in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandated certification requirements. The company is a complement to SNC's existing aircraft integration capabilities. It will help SNC grow even more rapidly. Most importantly, 3S’s FAA certification expertise will greatly expedite the majority of SNC’ customers’ FAA aircraft certification needs. The company will operate as wholly-owned subsidiary of SNC.
Sierra Nevada Corporation completed the acquisition of SpaceDev, Inc. (SpaceDev.) SpaceDev had 170+ employees in its three locations: Poway, California; Louisville, Colorado; and Durham, North Carolina. SpaceDev added tremendous space heritage with products that had flown on over 300 spacecraft over 20 years and represented a dynamic expansion of SNC’s space technology capabilities, proven system integration, communications, networking and intelligence capabilities in the space sector.
After the SpaceDev acquitision, SNC formed a new Space Systems Business Area which also included SNC’s subsidiary, MicroSat Systems, Inc., and the other SNC space operations and capabilities. SNC’s strategy of having an in-house satellite and space expertise is based on its vision of providing innovative net-centric solutions by synergistically connecting numerous platforms and domains from the Earth’s surface all the way to orbit.
MicroSat Systems, Inc.
SNC acquired MicroSat Systems, Inc. (MSI) in Littleton, Colorado, making MSI a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC. MSI was a leader in the small satellite market and had developed innovative spacecraft that included better payload mass fraction, power, data processing, and pointing accuracy than other small satellites and showed the potential to be a disruptive technology to the large and very expensive satellites traditionally used for Department of Defense and NASA missions.
Straight Flight, Inc.
SNC acquisitioned Straight Flight, Inc. (SFI) and Straight Flight Conversions, Inc. (SFC). These Denver, Colorado based FAA/EASA Certified Repair Station operations conducted commercial aircraft modification, installation, and maintenance activities. Turtle Mountain Communications, Inc.
SNC acquired Turtle Mountain Communications, Inc. (TMC). The acquisition enabled SNC to deliver customized communications solutions for the Department of Defense, other government agencies and commercial markets. This brought SNC a unique secure communications and real-time video capability. These light weight "fly-away" systems were very complementary to SNC’s core competency of providing agile and rapid systems integration to the special mission community.
Plano Microwave, Inc.
SNC acquired Plano Microwave, Inc. (PMI), gaining unique Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) sensor capabilities. SNC effectively applies is existing capabilities to enhance PMI sensors, creates new applications for PMI assets, and improves SNC offerings with PMI technology.

SSI was founded in 1995 and grew very rapidly from an engineering service provider to a developer and integrator of advanced Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, sensors and embedded processors. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SNC, SSI continued to grow, innovate and expand into new customer areas. In December, 2007, SSI merged into SNC, which further fueled the company's ability to attract and retain an expert and experimental engineering, program management and business staff, including recognized experts in systems software, electrical and mechanical engineering and systems analysis.
Advanced Countermeasure Systems
SNC aquired Advanced Countermeasure Systems (ACMS) located in Sacramento, California.
